Enzo Ferrari Named World’s Most Iconic Car

Enzo Ferrari Named World's Most Iconic Car

The Enzo Ferrari has been unveiled as the world’s most iconic supercar. The legendary £425,000 model, of which only a few hundred were ever built, topped a definitive list of the 100 most iconic contemporary cars that money can buy. The Zurich Iconic Car Index, created by Motoring Research which was founded by former Top Gear presenter, Peter Burgess, was based on a sophisticated formula which weighted factors including price, performance, engine power and marque.

Developed for Zurich Private Clients, it also pooled the opinions of a panel of the UK’s top motoring writers who judged brand status and style. The cars had to cost more than £50,000 to be considered.

Italian Batmobile: HAMANN Ferrari 599 GTB with 673 bhp

Italian Batmobile: HAMANN Ferrari 599 GTB with 673 bhp

Ferrari and HAMANN - a combination to set the pulse racing of all fans of Italian sports cars. The vehicle tuning specialist from Laupheim, Germany, has various new details and a power boost up its sleeve for the latest model from the Maranello stable. The power is produced by fitting an HAMANN high-performance sports header (export only), including racing catalytic converters, to generate an extra 39 kW/53 bhp. This takes the peak power output of this 6 l V12 engine, already familiar to us from the Ferrari Enzo, up to a majestic 673 bhp. You will rarely encounter more power than this on the open road. As a result, HAMANN has reduced the power-to-weight ratio from 2.5 to 2.3 kg per bhp.

To ensure that everyone knows that the King of the Road is about to arrive, HAMANN fits a sports rear muffler (export only) with 90 mm tailpipes both right and left. Needless to say, the rear silencer is made from corrosion-resistant stainless steel and generates an even more awe-inspiring sound than its series production counterpart.

Formula 1: The new Ferrari F2007 revealed

Formula 1: The new Ferrari F2007 revealed

The F2007 is the fifty third single-seater built by Ferrari specifically to compete in the Formula 1 World Championship. The project, known internally as the 658, represents the Scuderia’s interpretation of the technical regulations that apply for 2007, with changes principally concerning safety, through the introduction of more stringent front and rear crash tests and the addition of a composite material structure to provide lateral protection to the sides of the driver. These modifications have led to a significant increase in the weight of the car, in the region of just under ten kilogrammes.

The F2007 chassis has been significantly modified when compared to the 248 F1. The design was revised to accommodate a new front suspension that represents a major conceptual innovation, mainly in terms of aerodynamics. The shape of the side-pods and their openings are also revised, based on modifications to the cooling system, which also implies exits for the radiators on the upper part of the bodywork, while the engine air intake is also substantially different.

The Ferrari Panamerican 20,000

The Ferrari Panamerican 20,000

After the enormous success of last year’s “Ferrari 15,000 Red Miles” tour of China by two 612 Scagliettis driven by a team of international journalists, Ferrari is delighted to announce another tough challenge for this year, the Panamerican 20,000.

On August 24th, two gleaming examples of the Prancing Horse’s just launched 12-cylinder model, the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, will begin a long journey from Brazil that will take them through 16 countries and across 20,000 miles (32,000 km) to New York where they are scheduled to arrive on November 17th. A total of 50 different international journalists, each one representing the most important publications from all over the world, will take turns behind the wheels of the two sports cars, during the 15-stage, 84-day tour.

Every Ferrari naturally conjures up images of the track and motor racing at its finest. As the most powerful production model ever to be built at Maranello, it is easy to imagine the 599 GTB Fiorano going through its paces on the world’s circuits. Uniquely, however, not one but two of this stunning new model are about to embark on an adventure that will take them to the precarious mountain roads of the Andes and the dirt tracks of Central America, along a route so tough that they really will experience the same conditions as the very earliest racing cars.
