Bentley flower power

Just as spring heralds the arrival of colour in our gardens, Bentley Ribble Valley has confirmed that the north west’s only authorised Bentley dealership will again be supporting the annual Southport Flower Show this year.

Well established as the country’s largest independent show, the Southport Flower Show will occupy 34 acres of Southport’s Victoria Park from August 17-20, 2006. Up to 100,000 visitors and families are expected to enjoy a great combination of seaside atmosphere and a celebration of all that’s best in the gardening world. Patrons of the show, officially opened last year by Bentley owner David Dickinson, include Professor David Bellamy, Professor Stefan Buczacki and Roddy Llewellyn.

Bentley Ribble Valley, based at Rishton, Blackburn, is a family-owned business that first supported the show with the Bentley Pavilion and a display of Bentley cars last year.

“One of the great things about gardening is that it attracts people from all walks of life, and in 2005 we were able to introduce Bentley to a new and wider audience,” explained Bentley Ribble Valley chairman Stephen J. Ashworth. “The show is well-organised and offers great fun for the whole family, and we are very happy to renew our association with such a big regional event. As well as the Continental GT and Continental Flying Spur – the world’s fastest four door production car – visitors will be able to see the new Continental GTC – perhaps for the first time.”

Southport’s jewel in the crown has always been its annual flower show – ‘the garden by the sea.’ The seeds were sown in 1924 and with the exception of the war years, the show has been a perennial highlight ever since.
