Only a small number of Alfa Romeos have ever carried the famous two-letter designation, TI. Now it’s the turn of the Alfa 159 saloon and Sportwagon to carry the famous TI initials. Short for Turismo Internazionale, the TI badge now appears on several versions. Hearts and minds were united at What Diesel Car? magazine when it voted the Alfa Brera its Best Sports/Coupe, in the publication’s annual Car of the Year Awards.
Short-listed against the BMW 335D and the Honda Civic Type S, the Alfa Brera 2.4 JTDM picked up valuable points in the looks department, with one judge declaring: “For visual impact, the Brera is the clear class-leader,” and another judge announcing: “Drive this and lose your heart. It’ll be the start of a nerve-tingling, smile-inducing, mind-warping love affair…”

The Autodelta Brera J5 3.2 C will make its Goodwood Festival of Speed debut this weekend on Friday and Saturday (22nd & 23rd June) before appearing at National Alfa Day (24th June).
The Goodwood Festival of Speed has rapidly grown within a decade to become one of the world’s leading celebrations of modern and historic motor racing and high performance motoring. Evocative Italian machinery always takes centre stage at this glamorous sell-out gathering and this year will be no different: as well as the supercharged 341 bhp Autodelta Brera J5 3.2 C - which was commercialized in February and will be making its Festival of Speed debut - Alfa Romeo will be present, represented by the production Alfa 8C Competizione (which will also be making its Goodwood debut) whilst legendary Milanese classic cars in action up the famous “Goodwood Hill” is set to include the Alfa P2 Gran Premio and Alfa Tipo B, plus the Alfa 33 Daytona.

The most powerful high performance bespoke model yet to be introduced by Autodelta, the 147 GTA AM 3.7 Super made its first official public appearance when it was introduced during the SpaItalia weekend (2nd – 3rd June). The new Autodelta 147 GTA AM 3.7 Super pushes the engine and chassis dynamics of the Alfa 147 GTA to its most extreme point yet. This new version builds on the impressive upgrades we have already wrought to the Alfa V6 engine: capacity increased to 3,750cc, a remapped management system and a Ferrari-derived throttle body, coupled to the fitting of a Rotrex C38-81 supercharger delivering 0.75 bar of boost; now all taken to a new even higher level - bringing the car’s maximum power up to 422 bhp at 7,000 rpm (standard Alfa 147 GTA power is 250bhp at 6,200 rpm) and torque significantly improved to 520 Nm.

A legendary Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Monza sports car will hit the circuit of the Mille Miglia today in a return to European competition. The Alfa Monza, which is owned by the Fratelli Auriana team, is believed to be the model raced by Tazio Nuvolari in his winning bid in the 1932 Monaco Grand Prix. It later was entered in the 1933 Monaco Grand Prix and French Grand Prix and, in 1934, placed second in the British Empire Trophy Race, when it was driven by Charles Brackenbury.

Alfa Romeo Automobiles will be participating as both an exhibitor and as the Official Car in the first edition of Lux Wine, to be held in Monte Carlo from April 27 to 29, hosting approximately 150 exhibitors hand-picked by sommelier associations and a select group of oenologists. For the duration of the event, the Espace Ravel – the largest hall in the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco – will be transformed into a 4000 square metre wine cellar dedicated to an exclusive selection of winemakers.

Alfa Romeo enthusiasts’ attention worldwide has over the last year has been firmly focused on the “new breed” of exciting Alfa Romeo models. And at the same time the attention of Autodelta’s design and engineering team has been on working through the rapidly-growing order book for the new 340bhp Autodelta Brera J5 3.2 C, as well as finalizing bespoke high-performance versions of the 159, 159 Sportwagon and Spider to be added to the range this year.
And although it has slipped somewhat from the public’s attention, the stylish Alfa GT Coupé continues to find a niche market, buyers continuing to be seduced by its excellent chassis, gorgeous Bertone-styled looks, and of course the availability of the classic Alfa 3.2 “V6” engine. Italian sporting car manufacturer, Alfa Romeo, has announced its sponsorship of this year’s World Superbike Championship (WSB) ahead of the first UK round at Donington Park this weekend (1 April). As the official sponsor of the WSB Championship, the sponsorship deal includes high profile track advertising at all 13 rounds in the 2007 race calendar. Alfa Romeo livery can be seen from bridges, corners and the pit lane, and Donington Park will have an Alfa Romeo special hospitality area for guests and VIPs.
