To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Caterham has unveiled the most powerful Seven ever; the X330 – a one-off supercharged model boasting a mind-boggling power-to-weight ratio of 600bhp per tonne. The stealthy, matt black concept is based around the range-topping CSR Superlight, but the addition of a supercharger to the four-cylinder 2.3 litre Ford Duratec engine increases power massively from 260 to 330bhp – as the name suggests.

Caterham - the best of British

As it approaches its 50th anniversary, the legendary Caterham Seven sportscar has been voted the Best British Automotive Design of all time, according to a new poll of over 30,000 drivers by website, AOL Motoring.

The car, which gained its notoriety from the 1960s cult television show, The Prisoner, received a massive 44 percent of the vote, beating off competition from icons such as the Routemaster bus and the Mini.

Caterham is famed for producing some of the fastest cars in the world, but what about one capable of returning 131 miles per gallon? That’s exactly what a modified Caterham Seven achieved at the recent Shell Eco- Marathon at Rockingham.

Customized by carbon fibre specialist Axon Automotive, with the support of Energy-Efficient Motorsport (EEMS), the standard Caterham Seven Roadsport 1.6-litre K Series used enhanced aerodynamics, new lightweight seating, narrow low rolling resistance tyres and economic driving techniques to ensure it maximised every drop of fuel. The sportscar smashed the team’s initial 100mpg target.

Caterham build for the future with Ford Sigma

Caterham Cars has confirmed that the legendary Seven sportscar will be powered by Ford Sigma engines from the end of 2006. The adoption of a new engine from a global manufacturer coincides with the model’s 50th anniversary next year.

Colin Chapman’s very first Seven back in 1957 drew its power from a Ford sidevalve engine, and whilst the 21st Century version of the British two-seater may be going back to its roots in name, that is certainly not the case in terms of performance.

British sportscar maker, Caterham, has revealed details of its latest racing-bred road car, the Superlight R400. This keenly anticipated new model uses the Seven’s classic formula of motorsport technology and minimalism to deliver a car weighing just 525kg, capable of effortlessly sprinting out of the blocks to 60mph in 3.8 seconds.

The heart of the Seven is the new Cosworth-developed 2.0-litre powerplant that is mated, for the first time, to the legendary de Dion chassis.

British Sportcar manufacturer, Caterham Cars has announced a deal with Italian importer, Automobil Trivellato, in Este to sell its brand new Euro IV compliant Caterham Seven CSR200 from March 2006.

Capable of slingshotting a driver to 60mph in 3.7 seconds and onto a top speed of 140mph, the new, lightweight and agile Cosworth powered Caterham Seven CSR200 will see the legendary car manufacturer extend the number of countries selling its models to 20 including Dubai, France, Germany, Spain, USA and Australia.
