Victory Edition Corvette celebrates Le Mans success

To celebrate the success of Corvette in sports car racing, and in particular the prestigious Le Mans 24-Hour event, a limited run of just 250 ‘Victory Edition’ Corvette Coupes is being produced. Since Corvette Racing made its debut in 1999, the team has won more than 50 races, including five class wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans between 2001 and 2006. The Corvette Victory Edition is priced at £51,285.

Chevy Volt Electric Car, 2008 Malibu at Washington Auto Show

From a sleek, electrically powered concept vehicle that makes trips to the gas station a rarity to one of America’s favorite muscle cars, design and technology dominate the General Motors exhibit at the 2007 Washington Auto Show, which opens to the public January 24. Two Chevrolets make their East Coast debut: the Volt concept and 2008 Malibu. Cadillac features a concept SRX by fashion designer Dana Buchman, and Chevrolet highlights the Camaro coupe concept that foreshadows a production model. Also on the Chevy stand is the hydrogen fuel-cell Equinox SUV that soon will become part of a test fleet in Washington D.C., New York and California.

The Chevrolet Volt concept sedan, powered by the E-flex System - GM’s next-generation electric propulsion system - and sporting an aggressive, athletic design, could nearly eliminate trips to the gas station. The Chevrolet Volt is a battery-powered, four-passenger electric vehicle that uses a gas engine to create additional electricity to extend its range. The Volt draws from GM’s previous experience in starting the modern electric vehicle market when it launched the EV1 in 1996, according to GM Vice Chairman Robert A. Lutz.

Chevrolet Camaro Convertible Concept Debuts at NAIAS

The Chevrolet Camaro concept was the celebrated star of the American 2006 auto show season. Now, at the beginning of the 2007 auto show season, there is a new star rising: The Chevrolet Camaro convertible concept. It will be unveiled on the eve of the North American International Auto Show at GM Style, an exclusive, fashion-splashed event combining celebrities, couture and automobiles. Chevrolet already has announced production plans for the Camaro, which will go on sale in the US in 2009. A production convertible model will be added later that year.

Chevy Silverado named 2007 Motor Trend Truck of the Year

Today, Motor Trend magazine bestowed its prestigious “Truck of the Year” award on the all-new 2007 Chevy Silverado. “We feel the new Silverado represents the best of the best in the competitive pickup truck segment,” said Ed Peper, Chevrolet general manager. “Years of work have gone into every element of this vehicle. It’s great to receive this recognition from such a respected publication. Cheverolet Releases Sneak Peek of 2008 Malibu

Chevrolet today released an advance image of the exterior of the all-new 2008 Malibu, which will be unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January and will arrive at Chevrolet dealerships later in 2007. The photo was released in conjunction with the announcement of a $208 million investment in the Fairfax, Kansas Assembly plant to prepare for production of the car. The image reveals a partial shot of the front of the car featuring a dual-port grille, which is described as representing the “new face of Chevrolet.”

Chevrolet announced the new 2008 Equinox Sport, a performance-oriented variant of the popular compact SUV. Chevrolet Announces Pricing For HHR Panel

Chevrolet announced today that pricing for the new, segment-exclusive HHR Panel will begin at $16,750 (including destination) for a well-equipped LS model. Orders for the HHR Panel will begin in early January.

“Priced at only $200 more than an HHR passenger model, the HHR Panel demonstrates tremendous value to business customers,” said Ed Peper, Chevrolet general manager. “The HHR Panel is a model unlike anything else in the segment, offering commercial customers and expressive enthusiasts a bold, functional and different vehicle – and one that delivers more than 30 mpg on the highway.”
